A cold callers business proposalHow much do you hate cold calling?  Whether you’re the harassed recipient, or the ear-bashed initiator, nobody actually enjoys this unfortunate side of sales.

For some companies, cold calls are the only way to get their product or service into the minds of potential purchasers, with traditional mail-shotting likely to end up in the “round filing cabinet” (i.e. “bin”), advertising too expensive and hit-and-miss and other methods or PR and marketing with too big a cost and risk-element.

For the rest of us, cold calls are a huge inconvenience.  Whether you’re number-crunching, just got your rhythm going writing a report or press release, or just so swamped you don’t think you’ll make it home in time for your child’s 10th birthday party (he’s only 5 …); guaranteed, this’ll be the time you’ll get an overly chirpy call from someone you don’t know, who insists on calling you by your first name … and won’t take no for an answer.
